Bruise

16m Drama, Short 2022

Following the journey of Heather, a woman trapped in an abusive relationship, who manages to escape her domestic prison.

Bruise is a short film about domestic violence and emotional, physical and sexual abuse. We show one woman’s journey from the terror she finds herself in within the interior of her own home to her escape beyond the walls of her domestic situation, trying to find help. What she finds is more of the same- just in another form. She must come to a place, with the support of other survivors, to scream out her pain and heal. Bruise is an abstract expression of this story through movement and dance. Women from the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre and the Mayo Women’s refuge actually played the female extras in Bruise. The point of the film is to advertise these services and to bring awareness to these issues. Let’s start a conversation about domestic /sexual abuse and let everyone know that if they are suffering from these issues that Help is available. These support services help women to find their voices and break free from abusive situations.
